Strawberry Fields – The Cafe.

Think ‘Strawberry Fields’ and the first words which come to mind are …

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see
It’s getting hard to be someone, but it all works out
It doesn’t matter much to me”

In the song, John Lennon references a childhood place where he used to play. Or does he? Some say the song has psychedelic overtures. I, for one, am not sure.

So the other day, I walked in to this cafe in my hometown Guwahati called Strawberry Fields. Aptly, it had a huge wall painted with the Beatles logo and the faces of the legends themselves.

Now, there are very few places in Guwahati which actually have decent food, space and a pretty chilled out ambience. Strawberry Fields is a small cafe, but it has delicious food and ample amount of coffees to choose from. It was late night and I was starving, First up, the Jumbo Chicken Cheese Burger. Adequately priced at Rs. 110/-, its a no brainer. Grab one if you love burgers.

Then there was the Caramel Truffle Latte and another coffee which I can’t remember now. I know, It was late night and my memory’s a bit fuzzy. But they were both quite good.

The decor around the place was quite nice. Photos of Tibet (or maybe Ladakh), Were hanging around the walls and the bamboos around the place had lights on them which gave the place a great halo.

And like all good coffee-shops, they had a book section.

This is one place I definitely recommend visiting. One thing though, because of its location, I would suggest visiting it after dark, preferably around 8-9ish. Otherwise the crowded flyover can be a real distraction. But hey, that’s just a guess. Maybe the bokehs will be worth it. 🙂
